NOW its about the money...

Life certainly is crazy with its twists and turns. I am so, so glad my family has taken this pledge and learned so much this month about how much happier we are with living with less, because my dear, sweet, hardworking husband was laid off yesterday. In some ways this was expected and in some ways it wasn't. He is in a volatile field of work which has been hit hard in this recent economy. On the other hand, he's been gainfully employed for the last 20 years and things like this "just don't happen to us". Luckily, we've always done what you are "supposed" to do and kept a fund for living expenses set aside. Between that and our newfound freedon from stuff, we will be fine--just shaken up a bit. I have faith that everything happens for a reason, just as this blog has clearly happened for a reason, so I know everything will be okay.
This will certainly be an adventure! Stay tuned as we continue to find freedom from our stuff, as well as kick frugality into high gear!

Hang in there! I know these are hard times but hopefully you and your family will get through them unscathed.

I actually got laid off last week and while we're not hurting financially at the moment, I feel the need to dejunk and declutter the house. Almost like a mind clearing. As part of that, I'm vowing for anything that comes into the house, at least 4 things have to leave it. I'd like a negative clutter rate.

Always a new twist in the road. These are hard times for many people, I still think a lot of people don't realize how bad they are. I follow financial news faithfully, so I'd like to think I know a lot about the economic indicators. You will get by with unemployment, continued perservence, and family with you. Good luck.

so sorry about the layoff! I know it is for a reason, and you are such an inspiration with this blog, and this is just another way for others going through the same thing to learn from you! I am sure an even better job will be out there for him soon!

We are in Houston, and my hubby's company just said last week they are "downsizing". So we might be there with ya soon!

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband's layoff. It must be a very scary feeling, but it seems like you have a very good handle on how to cope. You're blog is doing a lot to help me gain some perspective and to make some changes, so know that you are doing good work!
